Did you know there are fossil coral beds all over the United States? Did you know some corals create ring growth similar to trees? I didn't until I was fortunate to be invited to a Lisa Gardiner's book signing and talk about her new book, 'Reefs of Time.'  Why is she writing about reef fossils? Because with the environmental pressures on reefs causing annual bleaching events and coral collapse, scientists are looking back through the lens of time to see how coral survived during other very difficult times in our world. Lisa's book provides a window into the history of coral and how that is informing research today.
